About this deal

You don’t like steep uphill walks (or you’re not as fit/mobile). The village sits on top of a hill, so expect to climb steps and walk uphill. Mellieħa is known for its natural surroundings and particularly its (mostly) sandy beaches. Apart from the largest sandy beach that Malta offers, Mellieħa Bay, you can also easily get to Golden Bay and Għajn Tuffieħa (my personal favourite beach). Also nearby, to the North of Mellieħa Bay, you can find Armier Bay, Little Armier Bay and White Tower Bay. More info further down in this article: Beaches around Mellieħa. Take a day trip to Gozo or Comino Population 493,559 (end of 2018); most densely populated with an area of just 316sq km on both islands. In this sheltered location, the gentle sea is shallow and calm, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The Green Flag that is usually flying indicates the safety of the waters. Many vacationers come to Ramla Bay simply to sunbathe and lounge under parasols. See Great Walks Malta for a map, trail notes and information on other recommended walks. Around five days are needed for the 50km (30-mile) Gozo Coastal Walk. Marfa Peninsula Best for watchtower history and views of Comino

Important to visit the National Aquarium, The Oracle Casino, Classic Car museum, the perched sandy Beach, water park, various swimming areas and numerous restaurants and bars very popular with foreigners.Postcard-perfect images define the island's picturesque coastline of sheltered beaches. The crystal-clear waters are ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. The countryside also has many scenic pathways, ranging from gentle walks to invigorating hikes.

If you have only one day, spend the morning in the Citadella of Rabat, have lunch there, then spend the afternoon either at Ramla il-Hamra or the Inland Sea.

Quick Facts

On the map you will find all the interchanges around the islands, all the routes in different colours together with the route numbers and also very important landmarks such as the airport, hospital, ferry, beaches and places of interest. The bay begins with the Inland Sea (Il-Qawra), a natural lagoon of shallow water in a recess along the coastline. The Inland Sea is a favorite spot for swimming and snorkeling. Have a look at two of Tony’s apartments in Mellieħa and rent directly from the owner. He’s one of the few holiday let owners in the area I recommend: The present flag of Malta was adopted on September 21, 1964. The flag’s design is bicolor, consisting of two vertical bands of white and red. The flag has the representation of George Cross edged in red on the upper hoist-side corner of the white band. Malta Location

Even on foot many of the distances are negligible and most of the roads are fairly quiet and pleasant to walk along. There is also a footpath network, though the paths require good shoes and a good map (they are not always very clear on the ground). Bus numbers 221, 223 and 225 will take you from Buġibba to Mellieħa in under an hour. If you’re staying in St. Paul’s Bay, take buses 41, 42 or 222. The small island Nation of Malta is an archipelago located in the southern-central region of the Mediterranean Sea, in Southern Europe. It is positioned both in the Northern and Eastern hemispheres of the Earth. Malta is situated about 80km South of Sicily (Italy), 284km East of Tunisia and 333 km North of Libya. Xlendi - a popular place of entertainment located south west of Gozo. The beach here is small but enclosed between high spectacular cliffs which make Xlendi one of the best spots in Gozo. Five islands comprise the Maltese archipelago – Malta, Gozo, Comino, and two uninhabited islets, Comminotto and Filfla. Gozo's capital city, Victoria (also known as Ir-Rabat) is surrounded by a sun-parched Mediterranean landscape. The historic center of Victoria stands on a hilltop enclosed within a Citadel (Cittadella), constructed by the Knights of Saint John after the medieval walls were destroyed by the Turks in 1551. This map is split in three different sections offering a street map for the Sliema, St. Julian's and Paceville area. Right top Valletta the capital city and bottom right St. Paul's Bay, Bugibba and Qawra.

Ta' Pinu Basilica, situated in open countryside is an important place of pilgrimage as miracles are claimed to have occurred here. The interior of the Basicila is rich in decoration. One can enjoy views of open countryside from outside the church. The Parish Church houses statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul created in 1881 in Marseilles, which are paraded through town for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul celebration at the end of June every year. The festival also includes brass band concerts, a crafts show, and fireworks. St. Agatha’s Tower, or as it’s most commonly known, the Red Tower stands guard over Mellieħa Bay. Like all other watchtowers along the coastline, it was built as a signalling post for communication, in this case with towers in Gozo. The village has a lavish Baroque Parish Church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. The ornate interior features marvelous ceiling paintings, gilded Corinthian columns, and an airy dome with stained-glass windows. Ix-Xewkija is a historic village (the oldest on the island) best known for its parish church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. This remarkable church at the center of the village is Gozo's largest religious monument; its dome is a distinctive landmark visible across much of the island.

The map of Bugibba and Qawra as they are all interconnected. This area has a variety of 2 to 4 star hotels with many rental apartments. The map gives symbol indications of the main facilities which you might require to use while there. You want a lazy holiday with plenty of sun and sea. (You can find some of the best beaches in Malta in this area) Malta’s average annual precipitation is 90 days, and monthly rainfall is 0.5 to 12 mm. For example, there is 110 mm of precipitation in December, while in July, there is just 0.3 mm.
